MST Predictions

Postby willcloyd » Fri Jun 29, 2012 12:45 pm

Ok people, I know we're all freaking out about the weather. Seriously, just read Sam Cooke's very informative post about avoiding heat related injury and everyone should be fine. In the mean time in between time though we need predictions, trash talk, general banter about MST. Let's get to it!

In any other tournament conditions, the entirety of the F pool would be too drunk to play a crossover game with any success.

In light of the heat, they will only have to watch out for rogue turtle shells.

Its so hard to do this well without knowing attendance for teams for the weekend. But hey, doing it well was never a requirement, right?

totally unbiased and not slanted towards my own amazingly constructed and phenomenally coached/directed team.

Pool A:
Motherlovers takes the pool narrowly beating Herschel 11-10
Herschel takes second losing only to MLs.
Primetime/Scoregasms fight it out for 3rd with Primetime pulling the upset

Pool B:
LHT upsets a short handed Whalers taking the pool
Whales have enough to beat Creepers and Good Times, though
Good Times scores the upset against the Creepers taking 3rd (What’s a C Bracket without Good Times anyway)

Pool C:
Sharks cruise with their toughest game coming against the Strangers
Strangers upset the Hucks and Dudes to come 2nd
Hucks take care of Dudes by a couple in a tightly contested game.

Pool D:
Samboni (if full strength) coasts through Saturday 3-0
Oooooodles of noodles ride the deep ball to take 2nd
420 somehow rallies to upset FunSize

Pool E:
Smashers hold seed
Birthday party holds seed
17 again barely hold seed against Sayad
Green Eggs will be a tough draw in the D bracket

Pool F:
Probably the most interesting pool. I can see any of the teams beating any other teams. Serious Trouble’s ladies can cause fits for people. Party Rock’s hard working Reeves + Simpson + the rest could tire people out fast. EAOC’s talent is much stronger this year but they are still EAOC. Pretty Bird has a good collection of recent college players and hard working vets that can score upsets if someone look past them.

EAOC loses to Pretty Bird somehow
PRock loses to EAOC
Serious Trouble beats Pretty Bird
PRock beats Pretty Bird
A mess ensues.
PRock
EAOC
Serious Trouble
Pretty Bird
Pool G:
Bronto uses their deep game to beat Bootytime and take the pool
Bootytime eekes out a win vs Lucky and goes 2nd
Lucky takes 3rd beating Goodson and RoQ
Neverland takes 4th coasting against RoQ

Crossovers:

2A-3B:Herschel v Goodtimes. Not even close. Herschel rolls at the end of a hot day
3A-2B: Primetime v Whales. Even short-handed the Whales win easily and huckfestily.
2C-3D: Strangers v 420. Fun game to watch as Strangers win by a couple
3C-2D: Hucks vs Oodalalley. Oodalalley win in a grueling game 11-10.
2E-3F: BDay vs Srs Trbl. Gyasi & co use the benefit of an easier day and fresher legs to win
3E-2F: 17 vs EAOC. Bogle’s team can’t handle the experience of EAOC and lose by a handful

Pre-Quarters:

Bronto vs Mystery: Bronto beats it’s mystery meat handily.
Hersch vs Strangers: Hersch win by a few as Strangers don’t have the depth to go forward
Samboni vs BDay: Samboni has a tough draw as BDay party works hard but goes down to the Supplies
Sharks vs Whales: Rematch of Thursday night and a reversal of fortune. Sharks at fuller strength beat the Whales at lesser strength by a 4 to avenge Thursday’s loss.
PRock vs Lucky: PRock edges out an entertaining game vs Lucky. Boezi does 1 thing amazing and 1 thing stupid.
Motherlovers vs EAOC: Another tough draw and EAOC upsets Motherlovers
Smashers vs Bootytime: Smashers smack dat Booty by a few.
LHT vs Oooooh: Oooh upsets in a game full of silly turnovers

Quarters:
Bronto vs Hersch: Bronto makes semis as the Hammonds start to tire oldUGA vs newGA
Samboni vs Sharks: Sharks surprisingly stake a lead. Slyly stick it to Samboni
PRock vs EAOC: EAOC is deeper and oddly invested this year and it pays off with a W
Smashers vs Ooh: Smashers ride their depth as well.

Semis:

Bronto vs Sharks: Trenton/Peters (almost healthy) shut down the deep game of Brontosaurus and patient offense of the Sharks frustrates Bronto into mistakes. Sharks to the finals!
EAOC vs Smashers: Tons of new faces in the semis. Despite wanting to make semis to rub it in McCargo’s face; EAOC makes it’s first finals.
Finals:

People finally stick around to watch despite the heat as two FRANCHISES (GODDAMNIT) battle for the title.

EAOC has no answer for the Sharks deep game and zone D just doesn’t cut it against Teddy, TBall, Goecks, Christina, and co.

that’s right. I predicted a championship for myself.

I certainly don't know attendance.

A: I don't think Herschel is going to be drinking as much they have in other tourneys so I think this translates into them being more sober than usual and caring more. They put up a good effort against Motherlovers though. ML, Hersch, Scorgasm, Prime Time

B: Good Times will have a ton of fun. Thumber, Beachwhale, Grimm, Good Times.

C: Shark Attack should eat this pool easily (I think it will happen like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nzd0R_OeOc) but Walking Dudes catches Stranger. Shark, Hucks, Dudes, Stranger.

D: Boring pool! Samboni, OodleAlley, Fun Size, 420.

E: Veteran squads of CatSmash and Bday take out the other two easily but Cat is by far the more dangerous of the two. Cat Smashers, Bday, 17, Green Eggs

F: I wish it wasn't hot because this pool would be very interesting with drinking. I think Party Rock - Pretty Bird sets the tone for the pool. If Party Rock comes out strong, I think they might have a shot depending on how much EAOC doesn't want to play four games. John Powers wears long sleeves even in the heat. EAOC, Party Rock, Pretty Bird, Trouble.

G: With the top 3 going to A bracket, I don't think results matter too much here because the top three are going. Bootytime has an easier time Sunday if they win out but I think Bootytime will fall to Bronto late in the day just because they get the others and kick up the party instead. Bronto, Booty, Lucky, Ranch Hands, RoQ

Cross:
Beach over Scorgasm
Hersch over Grimm
Fun Size over Hucks
Oodle over Dudes
Bday over Bird
Party Rock over 17

Roche: After much vigorous hand throwing, I think Pretty Bird gets it over 17.

Pre-Qs:
Bronto over Pretty Bird
Fun Size over Hersch
Samboni over Bday
Shark over Beach
EAOC over Lucky
Mother Lovers over Party Rock
Cat Smashers over Booty
Thumber over OodleAlley

Quarters:
Bronto over Fun Size
Shark over Samboni
Motherlovers over Lucky
Cat Smash over Thumber

Semis:
Cat Smash over ML
Shark over Bronto

Finals:
Cat Smash over Shark

MLT's predictions are rendered invalid for inappropriate use of the term "franchise" since Shark Attack has only been around for 1 year.

Late to the party..

Basing this off of minimal knowledge of who is going to be missing who. No Yeah Buddy leaves everything super wide open for this weekend.

Pool A - Really just a question of whether or not Hershel wants to win or not. I feel bad for Prime Time and Scoregasms, don’t see them doing much damage at all to ML or Hersh. I think Mother Lovers takes it because they have too many people who just want it more than Hersh.

ML 3 - 0, Hersh 2 - 1, Scoregasms 1 - 2, Prime Time 0 - 3

Pool B - I was told yesterday by someone on beached whale they will not have shanye, chelsea, sam or Jac this weekend. Fingers crossed this is true, cause that’ll make LHT vs. Beached whale a very interesting match up. Grimm has some good athletes but just not the experience to hang with teams. What is Good Times going to do in the heat? I know normally they’d be drinking the whole time, but I like those guys and don’t want to see them die. So maybe they’ll actually try to win a game or 2?! Thumbers pull it out, woohoo!

LHT 3 - 0, Beached 2 - 1 , Good Times 1 - 2, Grimm 0 - 3

Pool C - Apparently Stranger is hurting pretty bad(literally) which should make this a relatively easy pool for Shark Attack. I was going to take Stranger over Hucks, but minus driver, a hurt dawson, I just don’t know if they can keep up with the more Athletic Hucks team. That being said, if Abe and Wood decide to take over I’m not sure anyone on Hucks can guard that duo. Can they do it for the whole game? Not in this heat.

Shark Attack 3 - 0, Hucks 2 - 1, Stranger 1 - 2, Dudes 0 - 3

Pool D - 420 isn’t a great team this year, but there are enough legit players to give teams trouble if they are looking past them. Fun Size will give everyone problems, but will turn it over a bit too much which the top 2 teams will capitalize on. Samboni vs. OoDaLalley is a cool matchup. Victoria and LPS will have their hands full with a bunch of ridiculously fast solid ladies on Samboni. Think too much height and too many people having played together put Samboni past Oodallaley. Fun Size is too fast for 420 and pulls out the 3 seed. 420 has to settle for just having fun as opposed to having fun and drinking :(

Samboni 3 - 0, Oodles 2 - 1, Fun Size 1 - 2, 420 0 - 3

Pool E - The bottom 2 teams will make the top 2 work insanely hard, but will probably commit enough mistakes to maintain seed. Birthday Party has a ton of talented people, but Cat Smashers has been playing together longer which helps them pull it out in the end. 17 again is too fast for Green Eggs.

Smash 3 - 0, BDay 2 - 1, 17 1 - 2, Hammers 0 - 3

Pool F - Are Party Rock and EAOC showing up? If they are I don’t see the other 2 teams staying with them. Serious Trouble is probably more focused on having a good time than winning anything. Pretty Bird has some studs, just depends on how much the rest of the pool cares. EAOC won’t be able to drink as much, so they’ll have to settle for winning the pool. Party Rock pulls it out against Pretty Bird, but doesn’t have enough to keep up with EAOC’s depth, despite Alan and Osher running amok.

EAOC 3 - 0, Party Rock 2 - 1, Pretty Bird 1 - 2, Trouble 0 - 3

Pool G - Booty time blows out Lucky after Carpenter talks crap about them all during Spin Camp. That’s really the only thing I care about happening in this pool. If Lucky shows up they probably beat the rest of the pool and booty time still beats bronto.

Booty 4 - 0, Lucky 3 - 1, Bronto 2 - 2, Neverland 1 - 3, ROQ 0 - 4

Crossovers

Whale crushes scoregasms
Hersh beats up Good Times who are ready to start drinking
Fun Size upsets Hucks in a very fun match up of some Tech B vs. Tech A
Lalley throttles a tired and hurting Stranger
Birthday Party takes care of Pretty Bird
Party Rock survives 17 again despite the younger legs

Sunday
Pre Q
Booty Time Crushes Mystery team
Hersh is still willing to play and beats up Fun Size
Samboni cruises against BDay
Shark Attack eats up short handed Whales
East Atlanta takes advantage of a bunch of bronto turns
Mother lovers gets by Party Rock
Smashers handle lucky’s zone
Thumbers get revenge for an earlier short handed loss to Lalley

Quarters
Booty keeps rolling vs. Hersh
Samboni takes out Sharks
Mother Lovers take down EAOC no semis
Smashers get revenge for one of their few losses against thumbers

Semis
Samboni takes it vs. Booty
Mother Lovers ends Smashers Day

Finals
Samboni figures out Mothers zone and survives the heat.
