Six Pack - 2013 Tryouts

Greetings!

The 2013 USAU Club Season is nearly underway, and Six Pack wants YOU (at tryouts)!

Six Pack is a 4th-year men's ultimate team based primarily out of GA and SC. For 2013, Six Pack will be competing in the new USAU "Select Flight" division, reserved for top performing teams at Regionals which did not qualify for Nationals in 2012. Captains for the upcoming season are Devin Waldrop* and Kevin Anderson**. And they both are PUMPED for the new season.

Six Pack will compete in several regular season tournaments (TBD) within the Southeast as well as the USAU Championship Series. We anticipate holding 1-2 team practices this season, to be held Sat-Sun in a central location for team members. For those selected for the team, player dues will be ~$250 and will include team jerseys, shorts, lodging, tournament fees, and unlimited high fives.

*Devin Waldrop is a graduate of USC ('08) and UGA ('13) and has played for El Diablo ('08, '09), Rival ('10), and Six Pack ('11, '12). You may have seen him riding the coattails of several more talented ultimate players to win the ATL Summer League "Triple Crown" ( http://goo.gl/cp79u ) in 2011 and "Double Crown" in 2012 ( http://goo.gl/MVqcJ ). Kevin enjoys partying, beating Devin at Starcraft 2, spending time with his wife (Lindsey) and puppy (Ellie), and putting massive amounts of food in his mouth.

- MonkeyBowl (Nashville, TN) - Open Tryout Tournament
- Furniture City (High Point, NC)
- Huckfest (Decatur, AL)
- Crown Town Classic (Charlotte) or Shawn Adams (Chattanooga, TN - not USAU Select Flight)
- Sectionals/Regionals/Nationals

This schedule is tentative and subject to change, as the ultimate tourney landscape is ever evolving due to the club restructure.

A little more info now that our tryout weekend date has been set. For 2013, we are holding two tryout opportunities:

MonkeyBowl in Nashville, TN (June 1-2): http://scores.usaultimate.org/scores/#o ... ment/12970
- Taking 2 teams (limited to 54 total roster spots - first pay, first served)
- Playing in elite division
- Sat evening tournament party in downtown Nashville

Tryout Weekend in Athens, GA (June 8-9)
- Drilling/playing during the day
- Sat afternoon lake party, possible grill out
- Sat evening in downtown Athens, possibly with real women...!

Both are opportunities for players to impress and to play high level ultimate. Interested players do not necessarily need to attend both for consideration, but they will need to attend at least one (duh). We hope that our tryout process not only yields a competitive, spirited team in 2013 but also aids in individual player development for everyone who attends.
